As a more modern interpretation of the game’s past talent trees, the new system will be intuitive, making it easier for players to understand what role each spell plays. Also, unlike the usual one talent tree, it will hold two: a career tree and a specialization tree
Following the reveal, Blizzard showed off mock talent trees for both classes. One of them is the death knight. Here’s what Dragonflight’s new Death Knight talent tree and its base abilities look like.
Below here you can get to know more about the new death knight base abilities.
Death knights are the only class with a tank spec and two DPS, so it’s hard to pinpoint which spells will become base skills. For Dragonflight, however, the death knights want to inherit the same base abilities they got from Shadowlands plus some additional abilities.
All of the highest level death knights have access to these abilities as they will be gained through leveling up. This means that players do not need to spend talent points to obtain them.
Here is the list:
Death Coil: Fires a blast of unholy energy at the target, dealing Shadow damage to an enemy or restoring health to an undead ally.
Death Grip: Harness the energy that surrounds and binds all matter, pulling the target toward you.
Rune Forge: Allows death knights to inscribe runes on their weapons.
Dark Command: Make the command of the target to attack you.
Death’s Door: Opens a door that you can use to return to Ebonfort. Using Death’s Gate in Ebonburg will bring you back near the starting point.
On Pale Horse: You’re as hard to stop as death, and you ride 20% faster.
Path of Frost: Activates the Freezing Aura for 10 minutes, freezing ice under your feet, allowing party or raid members within 50 yards to walk on water. Available while mounted, but being attacked or damaged cancels the effect.
Death and Decay: Corrodes the target’s ground, dealing Shadow damage to targets in the area over 10 seconds.
Rune Strike: Strikes the target for physical damage. This attack won’t be dodged, blocked, or parried.
