For years, World of Warcraft players have been able to craft pets and mounts. This is part of the crafting system and works just like any other crafted item. Protoform Synthesis mainly works in the same way, however, a few differences set it apart from the usual system. Several recipes that allow players to make pets and mounts have been found on the test servers. The materials appear to be obtainable only from the new Patch 9.2 zone. What is not clear, for now, is how the materials are obtained. Some have compared the system with the Junkyard Tinkering from Mechagon. To create pets and mounts with the new feature, one will need different genesis motes, a rare ingredient, and a lattice. It would also appear that the materials are bound to your game account and not to a character. Players speculate that it will be possible to gather ingredients with your alts and send them to one character for crafting. Some materials are not bound which means that you will be able to sell and buy them on the auction house. It is also believed that materials come from Zereth Mortis mobs and treasures. It might also have something to do with another exclusive Zereth Mortis feature. Players might be able to obtain the materials using the new Cypher of the First Ones system. This feature will give zone-specific buffs and will help players as they complete activities in this area. The system won’t be of any help in dungeons or raids. The public test servers already have some mounts and pets that are obtained from Protoform Synthesis. Other crafting changes include an extra optional reagent slot being added to rare crafted equipment. More optional reagents will be available for professions. More recipes have been added as well. The new recipes will use new types of ore, cloth, leather, fish, and plants.
